Photoshop Elements can be used to create photo galleries with collections of pictures. Here are some examples of online photo galleries:
Instructions:
1. Select the photos to be used and place them in a folder. This will serve as your SOURCE folder.
2. Prepare the photos - Photos must be in .jpg format for the web. Crop, resize (maximum width 725 pixels) and change orientation as necessary. A resolution of 72 dpi is fine for the web. Make sure file names are short and contain no spaces or symbols. NOTE: File names can be used as captions for the pictures in your photo gallery - but keep the names short with no spaces or symbols.
3. Create another empty folder. This will serve as the destination folder for the web gallery. Make sure the folder name is short and contains no spaces or symbols.
4. Open Photoshop Elements and go to File/Create Web Photo Gallery. This will open the wizard that helps create the gallery.
5. When all of your selections have been made, click OK. Photoshop will automatically create the web gallery in the DESTINATION folder. The folder will contain three folders - images, thumbnails, pages. It will also contain one or more index.htm pages (index_2.htm, index_3.htm, etc.) and a text file named UserSelections.txt If you chose a vertical or horizontal frame as your style, you might see a file named FrameSet.htm. The index.htm or the FrameSet.htm is the first page of the gallery. If you began with a large number of pictures, you may end up with additional index pages.
6. To post the gallery on the web, the ENTIRE destination folder must remain intact and be uploaded to your First Class home page folder. Once the destination folder is placed in the First Class home page folder, it is posted to the web. To determine the link, follow this formula:
http://mail.greenwichacademy.org/~firstname_lastname/destinationfoldername/index.htm
http://mail.greenwichacademy.org/~firstname_lastname/destinationfoldername/frameset.htm
