The formal study of either French or Spanish begins in Middle School, in the fifth grade. Students choose the language they wish to pursue since the department feels strongly that student and family investment in the language being studied is of significant importance: World Language study is always more dynamic in a relevant context. Latin, introduced in the sixth grade, provides girls with an appreciation and understanding of the linguistic and cultural origins of much of our society.
