| In our ever-shrinking, globalized world, the study of languages takes on renewed importance. While the advent of the primarily English-speaking Internet appears to contradict this notion, the complex relationships among nations belie the truth: knowledge of other’s languages and cultures is an enormous asset. Students at Greenwich Academy are therefore introduced to the Spanish language in our Pre-Connecting class (Pre-Kindergarten). This daily exposure to another language is continued throughout the Lower School experience. The underlying objective of language acquisition at Greenwich Academy is oral proficiency and cultural literacy. In the Lower School we encourage students to explore sound and meaning through physical touch, imitation of sound, and exploration through play.
